If you want to get well from diabetes, there are no ifs and buts about it. Drop dairy, drop legumes and drop the grains and other concentrated starches like potatoes. Drop high glycemic fruits as well, they are factory bred and unknown in nature.
Satisfy your hunger with meat and fat and a few vegetables. Just sear a little outside the meat for flavor. But really, it isn’t necessary. I eat all my meat raw.
But what about the food pyramid? Well, the food pyramid is absolutely wrong. It was crafted by special interest groups with their industry in mind, not your health in mind.
It’s obvious that humans evolved eating meat, vegetables and limited fruit. Bitter Melon is a good fruit.
